"I don't have time for superficial friends. I suppose if you're really lonely you can call a superficial friend, but otherwise, what's the point?"
Courteney Cox

bansaisequoia on 2009-05-25 22:08:52
She and her superficial Friends got $600,000 an episode. Must be nice.

Kgun5 on 2013-04-03 15:24:01
I would take $.05 per cryptogram.

montyb on 2013-12-29 06:02:31
At least my Cryptogram friends are not superficial.

Barnabas on 2015-02-10 12:05:22
There's nothing superficial about me, Monty. I'm just ficial.

"Revenge is always the weak pleasure of a little and narrow mind. "
Juvenal

abra on 2014-01-08 11:37:47
Tell that to Amanda Clark.

Allen on 2014-11-09 03:19:56
OK: Amanda, Revenge is always the weak pleasure of a little and narrow mind. Happy now, abra?

LLapp on 2015-11-04 07:26:51
Yo, sarcasm not okay here.

killdozer on 2015-11-08 20:19:40
Is he accusing me of having a narrow mind? I'll make him pay for that!

abra on 2016-04-24 18:23:03
Oh, I thought it was funny. ) I was just being silly. I don't think Amanda got it, but I'm happy.

LLapp on 2016-08-14 14:16:09
Very funny, killdozer!

"The highest panegyric, therefore, that private virtue can receive, is the praise of servants. "
Samuel Johnson

debzhaus on 2009-02-11 22:06:16
Like Austen's scene where the housekeeper praises Darcy...

RedEnoch on 2011-12-24 04:47:04
How can you tell they're not just brown-nosing?

iltquilt on 2012-09-27 01:39:28
Haha! "panegyric" didn't get me this time! Last time I solved it, I wasted a lot of time putting in other letters! Sorry, just had to praise myself there.

abra on 2015-09-19 09:07:59
I'm not sure if I've done this one before, but I guessed right on panegyric. Yea!

LLapp on 2015-09-26 19:04:25
I'll have to get myself some servants so they can tell me how great I am.

abra on 2015-11-06 11:40:33
If I had servants, I'm sure they would think I was a lovely person, and lavish lots of that panegyricky stuff on me. ) I'd probably do most of their work for them, because I'd want them to like me.

He was a great comic. Most of his humor came from doublespeak. No one could figure out what the hell he was talking about.

marnita on 2016-06-06 07:40:09
I think we figured it out.

"Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes. "
Alan Watts

silveryaspen on 2009-03-30 15:59:59
zen I'll pass for I like to think as I peel potatoes

bansaisequoia on 2010-05-17 15:24:04
I think it's sinful to waste the nutritious peels of potatoes.

montyb on 2012-07-23 01:10:44
That's why I only frequent fast food places that make french fries from unpeeled potatoes.

Barnabas on 2013-08-08 01:30:43
Zen what exactly duz he mean by zis?

bazinga on 2013-09-26 12:02:43
That the potato is not really real and that you are not really peeling it.

BeeAre on 2014-03-16 03:26:42
Zen I am hungry.

Default this one seems special...

Time goes by so fast, people go in and out of your life. You must never miss the opportunity to tell these people how much they mean to you."
Cheers

Cheers! To all of you who taught me, made me laugh, shared with me, helped me, got to know me and allowed me to get to know you. Thank you all. I shall miss you all.

Oh Pootie, we miss you too. The site is not the same without you. RIP

abra on 2015-03-28 11:10:21
No it's not. It's kind of breath taking to see Pooties comment. Her comments here are a legacy. Cheers, the TV show? I don't remember the quote, maybe when Coach died?

opallady on 2015-04-10 11:30:42
We all miss you, too, Pootie.

I wasn't going to ask, but since LLapp had a question, there's something I don't understand either, namely: Who is Liz? Is that debzhaus' first name? Or am I missing something?

Debzhaus real name I'm certain is Deb. The quote referred to a sketch on 30 Rock with Buzz Aldrin and Liz Lemon (played by Tina Fey). LLapp was merely referring to she didn't understand the quote. Me either until I googled the conversation.

Oddcouple, thank you for finally explaining that one! Of course I already knew who Buzz Aldrin was. It was Liz I didn't know, and I did not recognize the "30 Rock" context, but I decided to let it go.

pj48, thanks for that follow-up question.

It's a clear day in Cryptoland.

Llapp, glad I could elucidate. And I'm glad pj48 asked the question so that I could help you. Others have taught me so much over the past three years. One of the things I love so much about this site, the opportunity to learn from those quoted and from other solvers.
